Australian Salmon (Rock Fishing) at Artillery Rocks, Lorne

Published on 30 Jun 2020 / In Pets & Animals

Rock Fishing (Australian Salmon) at Artillery Rocks, Lorne, Great Ocean Road was an exciting experience. I started fishing at low tides and stayed there till after high tides. Caught and release heaps of small Salmon and took few home for a feed.

Australian Salmon (also known as Kahawai in New Zealand) are great fish to catch due to their sheer power and occasional jumping out of water. Fishing off the rocks is fun and rewarding but can get dangerous sometimes during high tides.

Target Specie: Australian Salmon
Location: Artillery Rocks, Lorne, Great Ocean Road
Tides – Bait - Weather - Hooks: Please watch video
Rig Used: Paternoster Rig

I also caught some pinkies (baby snapper) which were over legal size but too small to put on plate so i release them straight away. Few catches of rock cods, mullets and tailor during low tides from the rocks.

If you are a keen fisherman and would like to go rock fishing then I would highly recommend rock fishing for Australian salmon at artillery rocks, Good Luck and Tight Lines!!!!
